- That depends on the voltages used (RS232 allows +/-3 .. +/-25V for
- signals), the cable type and the baudrate used.

- a distance of 50m (in fact, that's what I did for some time).

- BTW, shielded cable most often reduces the maximum cable length because
- it has a higher capacitance. Unshielded twisted pair is probably the
- best for RS232 in a normal environment.
